Product Overview
WeTransfer is a cloud-based file transfer service that allows users to send large files over the internet. The mobile app lets users view received files and share files on the go. It focuses on visual file sharing, enabling recipients to view their files in a more intuitive, visual way. Users can reshare, forward, or save files for later access.
The app is widely used by creative professionals such as photographers, designers, filmmakers, musicians, and others who work with large files. People use the app for both professional and personal use cases. The iOS app launched in October 2021 and have more than 10 million installs and 1.7 million monthly active users with an average of 4.8 stars.
My Role
As the design lead for a small, agile team, I drove the initiative to elevate the WeTransfer mobile experience. Building on my previous work with the Collect app, I was eager to create a dedicated mobile solution for file sharing—and was thrilled when the project got the green light.
I led the design direction, shaped intuitive experiences across iOS and Android, and collaborated closely with cross-functional partners. Together with the product director and engineering manager, we formed a triad to define mobile strategy and prioritize work that aligned with user needs and business goals.
